USMNT star Brenden Aaronson told he’ll have ‘plenty of suitors’ in summer transfer window despite Premier League flop at Leeds & plenty of bench duty during Union Berlin loan

The United States international appeared to be on the right trajectory when completing a £25 million ($31m) transfer to Elland Road in 2022. He suffered relegation out of the Premier League while in England, leading to him heading for Germany on a season-long loan.

Aaronson is one of several players to have spent the current campaign away from Leeds, with former Whites boss Marsch telling the ‘Call It What You Want’ podcast for CBS Sports of what the future could have in store for a loan army: “I don't really know what the thought process would be. I know the fans were really hard on all the players that left, that had clauses in their contracts to either get loaned out or were sold. I’m not sure what the whole status or the mentality of what's going on with the club.”

Asked specifically about Aaronson – a fellow American that he has worked with at Red Bull Salzburg and Leeds – Marsch added: “There will be plenty of suitors around Europe. One thing we know is he needs to get back to playing regular minutes. In the second half of the season, he established himself more, played a little bit more and had some better performances in general. He’s such a great kid. He’s a really quality player. He will always do everything he can for the team, I just want to see him excel, I want to see him go somewhere where it feeds into the type of football that he can play, where he can be rewarded. I think he'll find that. I’m not sure where that will be, but I think he’ll find that.”

Leeds have Aaronson tied to a contract through to 2027, but are expected to cash in at the next opportunity. There is no guarantee that they will be heading back to the Premier League, after finishing in the Championship play-off spots, and movement is expected this summer regardless of which division they find themselves in for 2024-25.
